Here is a list of some of my personal favorite rustic, woodsy New England wedding venues. A lot of these venues, while offering incredible woodsy settings, also offer other really cool features such as old houses, open fields and so many other amazing photo spots for photos!
Mountain House - Newry, Maine
Mountain House in Newry, ME is both lodging and wedding venue all wrapped up in one location. Spend the nights leading up to your wedding in the mountains relaxing each morning to an incredible mountain view. Not far away is popular ski resort mountain Sunday River.
Along with lodging, Mountain House offers wonderful spaces for an outdoor ceremony and tented area for a reception. All of the property details are just so perfect that is so inspiring to plan a wedding throughout it.
Warren Conference Center and Inn - Ashland, Massachusetts
The Warren Conference Center and Inn is a beautiful, rustic venue located in central Massachusetts. If you have your wedding here there are so many opportunities for beautiful woodsy portraits. The grounds are surrounded by woods with paths that lead down to a small lake, which is easily accessible because of the venue's golf cart!
Their outdoor ceremony area is back-dropped with large, deep green trees. During a late afternoon ceremony you can sometimes get the sun to flare through the trees and it makes for some stunning ceremony images.
Colt State Park - Bristol, Rhode Island
Colt State Park is one of those under the radar venues that is mostly DIY, but is truly stunning. Located inside of Rhode Island's state parks all that is needed to have your wedding there is a permit, which is fairly cheap to purchase.
Their ceremony area and alter are surrounded by mature trees in a large field with the ocean a few hundred feet away. From there you have countless opportunities for portraits. The park is loaded with woods, fields, bridges and ocean shore. You can really get a little bit of everything here.
Sargent Center - Hancock, New Hampshire
Sargent Center is a cool rustic, woodsy venue in central New Hampshire. Unrelated to it being a really cool venue, it is also where I attended Nature's Classroom in the sixth grade so there's definitely some nostalgia.
Since the facility is meant to host overnight retreats you are able to stay there with your wedding party before your big day. The grounds are covered with trails, ponds and recreational activities. Their ceremony area and alter are down a trail, completely within the woods. It is the definition of rustic.
Friendly Crossways - Harvard, Massachusetts
Located in Harvard, Massachusetts Friendly Crossways offers rustic lodging in an old New England farmhouse surrounded by fields and woods. Their ceremony location is under a canopy trees, up against a dense area of woods. A tented reception area is all located within walking distance of the ceremony area and house.
The grounds offer lots and lots of photo locations in and along the woods, in the fields and around the house. If you are looking for variety then Friendly Crossways might be the venue for you.
